Trail Rides

Saddle up for a true Western adventure! Select from the following: a one-hour ride on the grounds of Erik’s Ranch; a 2.5-hour ascent up Antelope Butte or for the truly adventurous, a half-day ride to Chimney Rock on one of our docile and friendly horses. Perfect for beginners and pros alike, our staff will take the helm and guide you with the majestic Absaroka Mountains as your backdrop.

Antelope Butte Trail Ride:
If you're up for a lengthier ride with gorgeous snow-capped views of Emigrant Peak, then this is for you! Formed of volcanic rock over 60 million years ago, Antelope Butte is home to a variety of wildlife and once home to the Crow Native Americans. At the trail's summit, you will have the unique opportunity to view a cairn.

Chimney Rock Trail Ride:
Perfect for those with an adventurous spirit! Homesteaded on May 20, 1862, and patented by Calvin Coolidge on December 21, 1928, you will have the unique opportunity to view three mountain ranges and 30 mountain peaks at the top of Chimney Rock! With 112 acres of untamed forest and 60 acres of open meadow, enjoy unprecedented tranquility and unparalleled scenery. Pack your camera!

Antelope Butte Hike

See for yourself why iconic movies such as “A River Runs Through It” and “The Horse Whisperer” were filmed in Paradise Valley. Ascend switchbacks on Antelope Butte – formed of volcanic rock 60 million years ago and once home to the Crow Native Americans – where you will be greeted to a statuesque, snow-capped view of Emigrant Peak towering in the distance. At the summit, you will also see a cairn standing in reverence – an homage to the Crow Native Americans’ presence on the Butte dating back to the 1880s. Be sure to bring your binoculars – and camera! – as you may have the unique opportunity to view some of Montana’s natural inhabitants including Mule deer, Golden Eagles, fox, elk and more! Tour of Chimney Rock

If you stand at the front door of The Lodge at Erik’s Ranch and look directly ahead, you will see Chimney Rock stoically standing in the distance. Buckle up for a thrilling and incredibly scenic drive along Pine Creek Trail, twisting and turning to the summit, at 7,650 ft. Rafting on the Yellowstone River

Are you a thrill seeker? Then this exhilarating adventure is for you! Select from either an 8- or 18-mile whitewater rafting expedition through Class II and III rapids on the Yellowstone River, the longest free-flowing river in America. Each raft has its own guide and personal photographer (photos available for purchase after). Gear provided. Camel Meet & Greet

You don’t have to travel to the Sahara Desert under the hot Moroccan sun for this adventure! Sit high atop one of the friendly herd (Butter, Jelly, Colonel Mustard, Jefferson, Chico and Doug) for a once-in-a-lifetime interactive trek with breathtaking views of the Gallatin and Absaroka mountain ranges. Montana Grizzly Encounter

Perfect for animal lovers, this grizzly bear rescue and education sanctuary, located in Bozeman, offers a safe and restorative place for grizzlies to thrive naturally that were born into less than ideal situations, and therefore, unable to be released into the wild. Founded by Montana native Casey Anderson, host and executive producer of the Nat GEO Wild Channel series “Expedition Wild” and “America the Wild,” – and Erik’s Ranch business advisory board member - who raised Brutus the Bear from infancy. Come visit Brutus along with his best friends: Bella, Jake, Maggi, Lucy, Sheena and Christi. We’ll provide some fascinating insight and fun stories about these beautiful creatures and perhaps even catch a glimpse of them enjoying their favorite snack: huckleberry ice cream! Call to book.

Fishing Packages

Montana is world-renowned for its pristine blue-ribbon fly fishing rivers, spring creeks, mountain streams and lakes. Full- and half-day options on the Yellowstone River are at your fingertips, home of one of the greatest trout streams in the world. For the more seasoned, enjoy a trip down the Yellowstone on a McKenzie-style drift boat as your float past some of the most iconic scenery of the West. If conditions are right, your personal guide will allow you to wade for the perfect cast. For the super adventurous, consider a day trip into Yellowstone National Park. Those who are willing to "hike and strike" will experience some of the most remote and beautiful streams in the country. Flies, leaders and tippet (if needed), boots and waders (if needed), gourmet streamside lunch prepared by your guide, beverages, shuttle included. Call to book.
